Hillsborough: A 30 for 30 Film

The Hillsborough tragedy and cover-up has been discussed at length on ATS. Two nights ago, a film premiered on ESPN as part of the '30 for 30' series. A description of the '30 for 30' series:

ESPN Films is proud to present its Emmy-nominated documentary series 30 for 30, and its 30-part digital short film series. 30 for 30 Shorts is a collaboration with Bill Simmons' Grantland.com and is similar to the feature-length films in that each piece represents a specific point of view of the filmmaker and is a reflection of how they blend the narrative with their own visual style.

The idea behind 30 for 30, was to commemorate ESPN's 30th anniversary, by producing 30 films from some of today's finest directors. Each filmmaker brought their passion and personal point of view to each film, detailing the issues, trends, athletes, teams, rivalries, games and events that transformed the sports landscape from 1979 to 2009.

"Hillsborough" does a remarkable job showing the audience the fight the families of the deceased had with the investigators and politicians and media to restore their loved ones' honor. The years of agony and depression they went through just trying to push the truth into the light... ended up being too much for some. But they finally broke through the deception and lies; Exposing the "sanitizing" of witnesses statements by the investigators. The families finally see a victory in court.

The tragedy is still very fresh in the hearts and minds of the people of the UK. This will be the best documentary you see on the matter.
