WAR: Chemical Weapons Lab Found in Fallujah

A lab that could have been used to make chemical weapons has been located in Fallujah. The lab purportetly contained booklets and instuctions on how to make boms, poisons and anthrax, there was no indication that any weapons had been manufactured before this discovery.



One can speculate what kind of attacks may have occured if Fallujah had not been cleared of terrorists.

A large arsenal of conventional weapons unofficially said to be "enough to overthrow the country" and now a lab pointing to the desire to use chemical wepons is discovered.

I would have to say that had the terrorists been allowed to continue unabated then chemical weapons or release's may have been used to disrupt the upcoming elections.

I thought that there were no WMD's or such capabilities to be found in Iraq? Didn't Bush and the CIA just make this up? Dan Rather? Wait....they only found manuals and instructional books, not stockpiles.

Seriously though, till confirmed by US forces, etc., this may be materials, etc. from external outside insurgents/terrorists moving the materials into Iraq to constitute a 'lab'. Besides, my understanding is that Saddam had upwards of three chemical/biological type labs/plants in Fallujah anyhow...this may be one.

I wonder how long before they find Saddam's WMD and nuclear weapons material in Fallujah?

In reality I think we put too much focus on Fallujah.. Iraq has many places like Fallujah... Though they may not yet be as bad, the fighters and insurgents have not all been captured or killed.. In many cases they have just been driven out of Fallujah..

But Fallujah could have been a good start.

Clearing Fallujah has a twofold effect, one is the capture and elimination of large arms caches, second it eliminates the safe haven the terrorists have enjoyed for so long.

Yes they will scatter but in doing so they must expose themselves either by presence or communications with others.

This will make them much more vulnerable as well as weak in repelling efforts at capture.

But they said there was no indication the lab was used to produce chemical weapons. It was not clear whether Daoud was referring to the same laboratory. Marines said on Thursday they were not aware of any additional laboratories being discovered, and were skeptical that evidence had been found of the manufacture of chemical weapons."

From the way it is being reported, it certainly does not seem to be a "lab" as such, not in the traditional sense anyhow. The weapon stockpile sieze is great news however and should help a great deal in slowing enemy forces.

I would agree with those that say this report does not prove the existence of chemical weapons in Fallujah.

However it does go a long ways in showing intent if these terrorists were left unmolested. The need to have "product" in existence points to past transgressions but the "lab" points to future intent which is just as important IMO.

In a way this discovery justifies pre-emption as a military strategy.

Scale it up and it applies to Iraq under Saddam.

Even the Americans are dismissing this one - move along people, nothing to see here.

Sometimes "researchers" just want to filter through reports till they find words that appeal to their sensibilities and their preconceived notions. The facts and the truth matter too little. This is how congnitive dissonancce operates.

And that's how the whole war on Iraq was contrived... "Go out and find us only those intelligence sources that would support an invasion - get us evidence of WMDs, links with terrorists, and stuff that we can sell to Congress and to other countries so we can form a coalition and try to spread the damage control..."

All the evidence was fabrication and lies. That is why we have the debacle that exists now... and why those that want to filter out the truth rely on snippets of "hope" that their position, already proven totally unjustified, might miraculously be supported by some major finding.

The truth under the Bush administration is DEAD. Long live the truth.

Bush was right! We must go and attack all countries harboring terrorists as our intelligence is right!

I am sure very soon we'll find nuclear weapons and large quanitities of chemical weapons in Iraq and in Iran too (after we start the democratic process)!
