I didn't leave out anything. I quoted the salient part of the article.

There is nothing wrong with standing up for one's values; stop trying to put words in my mouth.

Implying that certain values are the only correct ones, dramatically misrepresenting what others believe, creating vague shadowy "enemies" and constantly railing against the imagined agendas of said "enemies" claiming that this "enemy" seeks the downfall of the Fatherland, I mean, country ... that's what I have a personal problem with, now that you ask.

Of course it's a Republican/Democratic issue! Which article are you reading? Who do you think Carson is referring to with the "progressives" bit, the Tea Party? And who is the "we" that isn't going to let those evil liberal progressive democratic nazis take over?

Pfft.

Oh, so now its the progressives vs the tea party?
Hmmm.....

Hiillary Clinton, of course!
I mean, you heard her, she called it right - according to her Putin is like Hitler.

Have you ever been dragged out of your house?

Followed from school and beaten the crap out of?

Told your kind isn't welcome here?

Er... actually yes.

And yet here you are able to be rational and call BS where you see it even if from someone you admire while other people just nod their heads and click their teeth in ignorance and claim they're but an inch away from having a star forced on their clothing.

I'd have to agree with the good doctor.

Just look at social media.

Make any type of comment not according to societal "norms" and you're a;
Racist
Sexist
Elitist
Hater
Sheep
Slave
Domestic Terrorist

This country has become damned scary.

Poor you! Poor delusional you... your eyes must glaze over all the racial, gay, misogynist comments that are literally on every goddamn site you're allowed to comment on including this one, luckily we have some good mods. If anything it used to be more like Nazi Germany than it is today as far social issues go. Have you ever been dragged out of your house? Murdered in a public bathroom? Followed from school and beaten the crap out of? Swung from a tree? Told to use a different fountain, told your kind isn't welcome here? Fking hell what a bunch of crybabies.

Sorry I didn't agree with you.

Please put the "star" on me now.

That's why I said Pre-WWII Germany. Those 'blame the 1%' (like the Nazis blamed the Jews) and 'if you tell the truth you are a hater' kinds of stuff are pulled ... but they don't hang on. If they caught hold and were how the country was being run, then I'd give you the America=NaziGermany thing. If you can convince me that it's taken hold, I'll change my mind and say he's right.

If we wait until the "ovens" then it'll be too late.

One day you might grow more thoughtful and more wise - to the point where you understand what you actually said here

This is my wish for you beezzer

I always thought better of you than this

Imagine that

Yep and so are the idiotic morons that go along with it just like the Germans did. I call them "trendy".

The sad thing is that just through this thread it is proved that people don't even understand what fascism even is.

Nothing like a good bit of hyperbole to discredit an otherwise valid or provocative point.

Fascist ideology consistently invokes the primacy of the state. Leaders embodied the state and claimed indisputable power. Fascism borrowed theories and terminology from socialism but replaced socialism's focus on class conflict with a focus on conflict between nations and races. Fascism

Hmm, sounds about right to me. Well US controllers still love class conflict so we may need to leave that part in. We could add indefinite detention, unbridled surveillance, armored heavily armed thugs performing no knock home invasions too but I won't.

I understand the analogy the man is trying to make. For most of the American public using the words "Nazi Germany" is all they would understand. If he said the situation was similar to "post Treaty of Versailles Germany" or "post Great Depression Germany" the impact of his analogy would be lost on some, if not many. Not to mention the period of German prosperity in between the two mentioned above, the "post Dawes Plan Germany".

Anyone get where I am going with this? The use of "Nazi Germany" is widely known so that is what is used. If he used a phrase that was more on the mark yet far more obscure he might as well not send a message at all.

Personally I would say the US most resembles Germany during the period between the Great Depression and the moment the Reichstag granted Hitler dictatorial powers. However, like I said, how effective of an analogy would that be to the American people? It is far simpler to say "Nazi Germany".

For the record I see the US as being closer to the communist, Stasi controlled eastern Europe of the cold war days.

US is not a special island. The whole world is rapidly becoming the same kind of corporation-military-industrial-complex-controlled fascist-communist-capitalist perversion of everything that's beautiful, decent and good

(just look at the typical apartment buildings, can you say they express a great beauty and art? They are ugly, grey BOXES, square shape dominates everywhere, and there are no beautiful curves in sight (I know what you all think at this point, but I am talking about buildings). There is a rare exception here or there, but even if you look at roads, road signs, fences and whatever is it that you see from a car window on the way pretty much anywhere near a city, they are all pretty uniform - from Europe to Japan to USA to UK, they look almost the same. Who standardized all this? And then you see lots of grey stone or concrete walls with dull patterns, no matter what the country. Just look at the beauty of nature, from majestic Swiss Alps to Tropical Jungles to Montana-like forests - and then compare it to what humans have polluted this planet with, and tell me, what's the beauty-ugliness-ratio? Sure, there is some ugliness in nature as well (cockroaches, anyone?), but at least it still looks interesting, not dull, like human 'creations').

What's wrong about USA is also wrong about the rest of the world. The east is a third world toilet, filled with pollution, cockroaches, noise, potholes, and very tightly built modern concrete huts, and the west is slightly more luxurious a place, but basically you can take any western country and compare it to USA, and it will have pretty much the same problems, just in a different flavor, perhaps.

Stop being so America-centric - that's one of the problems of Fascism - people become incredibly nationalistic.. and why should one piece of this planet be somehow "better" or "holier" than another? Nationalism is not rational, it doesn't make sense spiritually, and it definitely creates aggression and wars, not peace and harmony among human beings. Cultures are a different thing (not that they really even exist anymore, except superficial tributes to some dead habits), but nationalism is just crazy. The planet wasn't originally divided to pieces to fight over. You can't see the borderlines from space. Countries do not exist in reality, they only exist on paper and human minds, and as language barriers and such. But really, we all live on Terra, it's just ONE planet, not multiple slices. When a deer walks from 'USA' to 'Canada', it doesn't suddenly transform to a completely different planet. No, it's the same planet. It doesn't know that anything happened. As far as its reality - which is the real reality, not the 'mind-created artificial reality' where so-called human beings of this planet live - is concerned, nothing did happen.

There's no point in saying 'american women' are like this or that, when all western women are exactly the same, and most asian women too, with only slight, superficial, and quickly changing differences (bring a Thai wife to any western country and see the rapid change from a human to a feminazi).

In any case, US, Canada, Europe, Australia, the Nordic countries, Scandinavia, Fennoscandia, UK (or is it 'Mediocre Britain'), .. and so on, and so forth - is closer to some weird mixture of nihilism, capitalism, communism, nationalism, socialism, corporatism, fascism, among other things.

It's not just one simple "ism" or another, that's my point. You can find features and bits of a lot of different, horrible "isms" from what's going on in the today's world, especially west. But East is not much better, and it could also be analyzed for hours this way.

To sum up and clarify; I wanted to point out that 1) There are NO valid reasons for being so America-centric, unless you speak about America-specific points/problems that do not exist anywhere else, it is the same everywhere in the west and 2) One "ism", even communism, is not adequate on describing or explaining in what's happening in ALL WEST right now.

I do have a third point about the whole 'people are duped by the whole 'person' / 'registration' stuff, but that'd require another, long post. And I don't know exactly how to categorize it into an "ism" (no "ism" can happen, if people do not consent to it, by the way, because people have the power, but they almost never use it, and they think using the power meangs voting, or some other incredibly silly thing like that).

While I agree with much of what you say I have to ask you, have you ever lived in the east? After several years living just outside of Taipei the main thing that still lingers in my mind is the beauty. Here is an example of one of the places I liked to frequent.

America and the EU have serious problems. Not saying the east doesn't but Dr Carson was speaking specifically about an American issue from his point of view. Being a US citizen and being in the US as long as I have along living in both Asia and Europe for many years I have to agree with him.

Well, that father at the school meeting did just get arrested for speaking out about the mandatory pornographic reading material assignment his daughter had to read.

If that isn't the Police State just as Nazi Germany was, well, I wonder what would convince you? Of course it seems more subtle than all the movies we saw about Nazi Germany. When we think of that we imagine the family hiding out up in the attic rationing out pieces of bread and a girl writing in her diary about it. We think of guns in peoples faces and people being rounded up and herded into cattle cars, but really, we have SWAT teams now going into houses and shooting people and dogs for goodness knows what small offense, we have guns in our faces in door to door search for a suspect, we have pregnant women and old grannies being tazed.
Really, what would make you think we are on the edge of such a precipice?
