Potential import/export restrictions spark combloc ammo frenzy

Oh, Christ, here we go again:

I had a fellow tell me this morning that he was completely unconcerned about the Ukraine situation, believing that Obama would take the "Chamberlain way out" of confrontation. No he won't, I replied, he'll take the Clinton way out -- do nothing about the larger issue but he'll cut off our access to Russian ammunition just like Clinton cut off our access to inexpensive Chinese ammo in the 90s, to "punish them for human rights violations."

Our distributor source informed us that yesterday they had several hundred thousand rounds of Russian made 7.62 TulAmmo, and after receiving word early today on the halt of Russian exports to the US, they have been completely wiped out of every last round in the past 10 hours!

Now, these sources are all basically junk or insane (looking at you Yeager) but I felt I should watch what happened yesterday and today on aggregators like Gun-Deals.com and gunbot.net and others to see if the exclamations of these nuts would affect things.

Sure enough, yesterday everything was .22-.24 cents a round and stock was plentiful and today the low range has bumped a bit to .24-.26 cents a round and this morning I had a few retailers with real time inventory tracking up and watched stocks fall 4, 5, 10 cases per page refresh.

Not saying it's anything. Just worrying it's something. Either real or fabricated by these unconfirmed claims and doom-porn.

its very hard to buy american ammo considering that almost all of it ends up in a GI's gun. i dont blame them for not wanting to shoot non american ammo for a plethora of reasons, its just tougher to shoot only american at home. theres several very high quality rounds manufactured by several manufacturers around the world if you do some digging. russia is one but theres plenty of others too. much like with american you get what you pay for. a cheap ass target round from america is just as dirty as a cheap ass target round from russia or mexico. tulammo isn't all that great either. i got a box of .38 that I've had sitting around for a while. they felt limp to me when using them. didnt have the right pop to em. not sure what it was i just didnt really like them.

basically the point of the rant being that theirs still plenty of ammo manufactures outside russia. I'm sure it will raise the price for a while but in a week or 2 once ole Yosemite sam calms down and realizes he just maxed his cards out for the 5th time in 2 years for no reason buying up "The last of the ammo" more ammo will slowly appear on the shelves. hell its still in stock at my local superstore, thats kinda been my gauge for the last couple years, super store is out... were low. right now they are pretty well packed.

Darn, I wanted to get some 22 longs to teach my grandchildren to shoot. Guess I will be teaching them to shoot one shell at a time. Only one long rifle can be chamber loaded at a time.

Could of seen this coming a mile away. Im very pleased to have purchased the majority of my ammo stockpile a few years ago, I never stop buying ammo, but for anyone still waiting to buy ammo for your stockpile, your timing is way off.

Theres plenty of good ole US made weapons around....
Do like I did and buy a Colt 45...you can make several calibers of top ends for it......never be out of ammo......just change calibers....
I wouldn't use a combloc rifle because when SHTF there will be NO ammo available except what you have to kill for....

Yeah well if the SHTF a person will use anything that is available.

And that is .223//5.56 and the 7.62 ak round, and between the two there are literally hundreds of millions of rounds floating around this country.

Your paying attention which everyone should be. Ammo is pretty much a commodity these days.

So are guns.

The price will reflect current events in America, and the world.

all my weapons are US made but the ammo that goes through them is easily 75% foreign born. hell i dont even know if all the winchesters i shoot are american, i somehow doubt it, so maybe even 90%

american weapons.. yes buy em up for sure. the more the merrier! there is definitely alot of foreign born weapons that i would love to own but from a "NEED TO OWN" point of view my safe will be packed full of good ole american heavy metal.

the real answer to this is reloading.

Anyone considered the possibility that the arms manufacturers and the ammunition manufacturers must be LOVING the amount of control they have over how much of their product leaves the shelves in a given month?

Think about it. When the oil companies need to sell more oil, or charge more for it, they just turn around and whisper in someones ear "hey...pssst... dude... keep this under your hat right? There is going to be a shortage of oil... buy what you need sooner, rather than later!".

They know that the fellow they told, will go and tell his friends, and relations, and work colleagues. Masses of product is sold, and despite all the dire warnings, the point at which we run out of oil continues to be shunted back by prospectors. Now, there is this ammo crisis that apparantly keeps popping up. The government of the US sticking one up the constitution as often as possible over the last little while, caused people to buy as much ammo as possible, since there were rumours of the stuff just vanishing from the shelves. Is it possible that ammo manufacturers have cottoned on to the fact that they could dramatically increase a particular quarters sales, just by spreading a rumour like this to the "right" people?

It is worth considering. Remember, just because the arms industry is a vital tool for those of you who enjoy the fact that the USA has a second amendment (which is a damned good thing, take it from a fellow who lives in a defenseless society), does not mean that they aren't just as much of a bunch of corporate money grubbers as the banks, the insurers, the government its very self. They are a part of the structure, there purely to make money.

This new authority expands upon E.O. 13660, which the President signed less than two weeks ago, by authorizing the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State, to impose sanctions on named officials of the Russian government, any individual or entity that operates in the Russian arms industry, and any designated individual or entity that acts on behalf of, or that provides material or other support to, any senior Russian government official.

So the potential to affect Russian ammo/arms imports is definitely there.

Once they ban Russian ammo it will be banned forever. by the time the ban is lifted you will have some government agency put another ban on it like the EPA.

Why is the US government still buying very large amounts of ammo for the military when we have brought back most of our troops for the Stan.

Reading the full letter will make your eyes bleed. This woman is so horrible not even Death wants her.
