An SAS unit was being held by rebel forces in Libya, it has been reported.

Up to eight soldiers were captured as they escorted a junior British diplomat through rebel-held territory in the east of the country, the Sunday Times said.

Spokesmen for both the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign Office would neither confirm nor deny the report.

Now as usual the British government are neither confirming or denying this news however the source is from the Sunday times, a highly regarded newspaper. They are claiming that a 8 man unit from the SAS and a British diplomat have been capture by rebel forces in Libya. If true this must be putting more pressure on the British government to use military force to intervene in the current civil war starting in Libya

It will be interesting to find out more details about this developing story.
