Title is from the source, a tad misleading in that they're VOTING on it, it's not already passed.

Quick summary is that they (we?) are voting on upping the minimum wage to $15 an hour... from $7.25

Should be neat seeing how many small businesses close their doors- and how many large businesses (fast food) move out of town should this pass.

And on a related note, many Maine businesses are now looking into self-serving kiosks

That's right.

Because any wage increase translates to the employers having to shell out more $$ for medicare, and ss contributions,

More cash for the employers that have to pay their employees unemployment insurance.

The kicker here is that unskilled labor getting the same pay as unions.

No point of unions then now is there.

so buisnesses need to make about $8 per hour to cover the costs to each employee??

The US economy will collapse and this wage increase will be blamed.

$18.00 is the minimum wage for an adult where I come from, our economy is reasonable if you dont mind spending $6.00 on a coffee

Paid more. Unions want to be exempt.
