As a member of BRICS and with the upcoming BRICS summit there has been a lot of speculation on whether Putin will be coming, and if he will be arrested if does, due to the ICC Arrest warrant. The SA government initially indicated it would not, but a recent court case will force them to abide by the arrest warrant.

The government has agreed to execute the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin if he ever sets foot in the country.

The DA went to the Gauteng High Court on Friday to force government to commit to arresting Putin.

The Department of Justice further agreed to pay the costs of the legal application, which was initially launched by the DA to compel government to arrest Putin if he were to attend the BRICS summit in Johannesburg next month.

Government announced this week that Putin would not physically travel to South Africa and would participate in the summit virtually.

If we are aware of it, so is Putin. What's the likelihood he's going to walk right into it?

So everyone all around is 100% committed to starting a World War, huh?

Because that's a very real possibility.

Without going into the long list of actions that many countries have taken to thoroughly make everything infinitely worse and poke the bear, this is definitely icing on the cake.

He will attend virtually - as stated in the article.

South Africa is trying not to piss off one of its major trading partners, and the rest of the world at the same time. Not an enviable position for an economically struggling country to be in.
Historically, Russia is one of the countries and supported (financed, military training and equipment, university education) many of the people currently in positions of power in the SA government during apartheid.

What do you suggest is done to people who commit egregious crimes against other people?

Putin is at the helm of a force that violated human rights, committed crimes against humanity -- and I think the extent of these horrible crimes is completely lost on the people who defend Putin and point fingers at the rest of the world.

Putin is being charged with the forceful detention and murder of innocent civilians, women and children. His soldiers have raped all genders of all ages, dismembered people in broad daylight, kidnapped children and separated them permanently from their families, forced countless civilians into concentration camps where they are forced into labor digging Russian trenches for the war, should they refuse to they are summarily executed.

These are called war crimes and some are crimes against humanity. What should we do with the people who instigate and commit those crimes?

Just let them travel around the world like nothing happened?

The US leadership is, and has been, just as corrupt and evil as Russia’s, they’re just better at hiding it.

How so? If Putin is stupid enough to test whether the South Africans will arrest him, as they are obliged to do under agreements they have signed up to, then that's Putin's problem. How does this start a World War?

The BRICS has an overstated impact on World affairs.

Nope.

What's your solution , bow to the Tsar ?

If the bear hadn't walked into someone else's kitchen and started smashing stuff up their wouldn't be a problem , blame the culprit not those dealing with his actions.

Putin won't be going to South Africa he'll probably appear via live link , that much is already known.
